Descripción

Porcelain and faience of Valentine, by R. Curnelle, Ed. Ch. Massin, 8 inches x 11 inches ( 21 cm x 28 cm ), hardcover book with 168 full color pages

This hardcover book with 168 full color pages and more than 150 color illustrations presents the French faience and porcelain factory of Valentine.

The Fouque and Arnoux, a dynasty of ceramists with an extraordinary destiny, were already among the best in Moustiers in the 18th century. They shine in Apt and Toulouse. Far-sighted and brilliant entrepreneurs, at the beginning of the 19th century, they founded the "Valentine" factory in Saint-Gaudens, the only hard porcelain factory in southern France. Very quickly they achieve international excellence.
This book contributes to pay tribute to the little-known talent of these artists, one of whom will become, in England, artistic director at Minton and brings together for the first time, in an imaginary museum, the quintessence of this production.
From a corpus of more than 600 dispersed pieces, this unpublished work analyzes, on a deliberately simplified historical background, the whole of this production and defines discriminating identification criteria.

This book includes the main marks and signatures of Valentine.

Contents:

  • From Moustiers to Saint-Gaudens
  • The manufacture of Valentine in Saint-Gaudens
  • The productions of the manufacture of Valentine
  • From the height to the decline
  • Status and evolution in production Fouque Arnoux & Cie

The French texts are written by Robert Curnelle.
