Descripción

C'est SHELL que j'aime!, by S. Defradat, Ed. Du May, 10 inches x 10 inches ( 25.5 cm x 25.5 cm ), hardcover book with 128 full color pages

This hardcover book with 128 full color pages widely illustrated presents the history of Shell France since 90 years.
This book presents over 600 items such as diecast miniature cars and trucks, filling stations, trains and toys, pins, key holder, posters, and other promotional material.
In 1833, in London, Marcus Samuel imports from the Far East shells (shell in English) very sought after in Victorian times. A few decades later, his son Marcus Samuel Jr decided in 1897 to add petroleum to his imports.
In 1919, the establishment of the Société Maritime des Pétroles in Paris, which would become ten years later the Société des Pétroles Jupiter, marked the birth of Shell's activities in France, solidifying a relationship that had existed for a few years between the English group Dutch Royal Dutch Shell and Deutsch de la Meurthe. Helping the notoriety, the company changed its name in 1948 and became French Shell, then Shell France forty years later.
In the 1950s, Shell set up many service stations on roads and motorways and began a real advertising saga: enameled sheet metal signage for garages, guides and road maps, posters, games and cutting boards, key chains, pins, trucks, toy cars, trains and other advertising toys are made in Shell colors.
In 1958, a slogan was launched which will remain forever famous: "C'est Shell que j'aime"!
Find in this book more than 600 objects and advertisements that marked the 90 years of presence in France of the seashell brand. And "Fill up on essentials!..."
