This is a hardcover book with 448 full color pages that contains more than 1000 color pictures and illustrations.
The texts recounts the history of this famous French crystal factory from its founding in 1842 by Louis-Joseph Maës in the town of Clichy-la-Garenne until the end of its activities in 1896.
This book presents a fairy large number of masterpieces made of opaline and crystal, engraved, filigreed, decorated, enameled or tinted, paperweights and sulphids.
A first appendix retraces the history of glass, one second appendix discusses means of identifying Clichy crystal pieces ( fluorescence, density and index of refraction ).
This book contains the largest collection of Clichy paperweights with over 300 weights presented, a must-have for all paperweight and crystal lovers.
