Descripción

Ceramic - Expertise and Restoration, by J.G. Peiffer, Ed. Faton, 8-½ inches x 11-½ inches ( 22 cm x 29 cm ), hardcover book with 252 full color pages

This hardcover book with 252 full color pages, largely illustrated, presents the knowledge to recognize, conserve and repare the various ceramic and terracotta.
It is the book that completes studies in the history of the arts and techniques of fire. The notion of expertise, which refers to the knowledge acquired through confrontation with objects, implies a real investigation into the technical means of an era, on its aesthetic aspirations, on its inventions and its borrowings from which are born the relations between authentic works, copies, fakes and counterfeits.
The first section of the book presents a broad synthesis on ceramics, describing all the technical developments that have led to the emergence of styles, fashions and plastic research. Great importance is given to the study of the vocabulary of forms and multiple decorations, all reproduced in numerous plates describing with precise drawings the profile of the vases, the outline of the plates and the immense variety of ornamental motifs, floral or symbolic.
As for the section "Conservation-restoration techniques", it explains the challenges of the conservation or interventionist phases, from staple removal to pictorial reintegration, from epoxy putties to the most delicate polyurethane glazes. The interventions are detailed step by step, of the "Stratype" process.
Directories allow the reader to know the laboratory products essential in a workshop - solvents, glues, sealants, pigments, binders and varnishes - as well as manual or mechanical tools such as airbrushing.

Description

La céramique - Expertise et Restauration, de J.G. Peiffer, Ed.
